It’s about 4:00 AM but I’m carving for something sweet particularly turon. Good thing I have all the ingredients that I need to no one can stop me from preparing one.
What is turon?
Turon is a beloved Filipino snack, often referred to as “banana spring roll.” It’s made by wrapping slices of saba bananas (a type of Filipino banana) and sometimes jackfruit in a spring roll wrapper.
The filling is sprinkled with brown sugar, which caramelizes as it fries, giving the turon a sweet, crunchy exterior. Once wrapped, it’s deep-fried until golden and crispy.
Turon is commonly enjoyed as a dessert or snack and is often sold by street vendors in the Philippines. Its combination of sweet, warm bananas and crispy texture makes it a favorite treat for many.
