Farewell to a Queen: Remembering Jiggly Calente, a True Trailblazer

Jiggly Caliente, the beloved drag performer and TV personality, has sadly passed away at the age of 44 following complications from a severe infection that led to the amputation of most of her right leg. Her family announced her passing on April 27, 2025, sharing that she was surrounded by loved ones in her final moments.

Born Bianca Castro in the Philippines, Jiggly Caliente made a lasting impact on the drag and entertainment world. She first gained recognition on Season 4 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race”, where her vibrant personality and fierce performances won over audiences. She later returned for Season 6 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars”, further cementing her place in the drag community.

Beyond her success in the U.S., Jiggly was a judge on “Drag Race Philippines”, where she helped uplift and mentor Filipino drag artists. Her contributions to the LGBTQ+ community extended beyond the stage—she was a vocal advocate for trans rights and representation, having publicly come out as transgender in 2016.

Health Struggles and Tragic Passing

In recent months, Jiggly faced serious health challenges. Her family revealed that she had been hospitalized due to a severe infection, which ultimately led to the amputation of most of her right leg. Despite the extensive recovery process, her condition worsened, leading to her untimely passing.

Her family shared a heartfelt statement on social media, describing her as a “luminous presence in the worlds of entertainment and advocacy” and emphasizing that her legacy of love, courage, and light will endure

Following the announcement of her passing, tributes from fellow drag performers and fans flooded social media. Michelle Visage, co-host of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” expressed her sorrow, saying, “We love you so much, my sweet Jiggles, and we are praying with all we’ve got.” Other drag stars, including Bob the Drag Queen, Manila Luzon, and Peppermint, also shared messages of love and remembrance.

Jiggly Caliente was more than just a performer—she was a trailblazer, a mentor, and a beacon of hope for many in the LGBTQ+ community. Her contributions to drag culture, both in the U.S. and the Philippines, will not be forgotten. Her infectious energy, fierce wit, and unwavering authenticity made her a beloved figure in the entertainment world.

While her physical presence is gone, the joy she shared and the space she helped create for so many will remain forever.

Rest in power, Jiggly Caliente.

Initially, his blog served as an online diary—a personal journal where he shared his experiences, thoughts, and travels. Over time, his blog evolved into a space where he could express his random musings and reflections. This personal blog doesn’t focus on any specific niche, but instead, it’s a collection of his diverse interests and feelings. Edd created the blog purely as a hobby, with no particular intention of aligning it with any particular theme or audience. It remains a platform for him to write about whatever crosses his mind, with a style that is uniquely his own—raw, honest, and unapologetic. Through the years, the blog has served as a creative outlet, allowing Edd to document his personal journey while sharing bits of his life and thoughts with the world.
